First "Trip to the Principal's Office"

Tuesday when I picked Katelynn up at pre-school, her eyes were red and puffy and she looked absolutely miserable. Her teacher informed me that she threw a huge tantrum at naptime. Ms. Mary Anne asked her to turn off the light and she refused. So Ms. Mary Anne assigned another student to do the task, and KK went into full meltdown mode. Very classic - always an issue of control...

Now, I have become somewhat accustomed to her 10-on-the-Richter-scale hour-long temper tantrums. I hate them, but they don't surprise me anymore. But this was the first time she has done this for anyone other than her mommy/daddy or Nanna/PopPop. Few have witnessed it in-person. Most have only heard me talk about them only to assume I must be one of those dramatic and exaggerating mommies.

Since she was absolutely out of control, she had to make a little trip to the preschool director's office. Eventually she fell asleep on Ms. Sarah's floor. This is one embarrassed mommy just *praying* that this was a one-time occurrence. Yikes...

Spending her Own Money Already...

Lately, Katelynn has become obsessed with gum. I got a package for free at CVS and quickly discovered that she was keenly aware anytime I tried to stealthily pop a piece in my mouth. So I had to share. Today, the gum ran out and KK was not happy about it.

We were on the way to Wal-Mart and she declared that we would buy more gum. I told her that mommy wasn't going to buy more gum. "I'll buy the gum," said KK. I laughed. "You can't buy the gum, KK. You don't have any money." She replied, "I have lots of money in my piggy bank mommy."

So Katelynn made her first purchase with her "own money" today - a package of watermelon gum shaped like little ice cubes.
