Escape Artist

It looks like the time has come to consider the switch to the "big girl bed." I was in no rush for that to happen, but now it is upon me.

Three times now we have heard Katelynn begin squawking loudly for us in the morning. When we show up in her room she is perched up on the corner of her crib like a little parrot. We have no clue how she is able to get herself into this precarious position. But once she does, she is scared to jump back into her crib or onto her bedroom floor. So she balances there and yells for us!

It is only a matter of time before she tumbles to the ground, which is a bit scary if she were to land the wrong way. So it appears it is time for yet another "toddler transition" here at the Kim household.

  1. Yikes! Wow, big transition coming up! Thankfully Hayden's still short enough to not be able to climb over the railing. (: I think Katelynn got your height! Hope you guys can come over soon!

  2. Not fun! We were so excited to have Gavin sleep in his new big boy bed, thinking he would do great. Wrong! He wouldn't stay in his bed without a fight, so we ended up putting him back in the pack-n-play...until he learned how to climb out of that! At one time he even hurt his arm on the landing. Needless to say, we had no choice but to work through the big boy bed transition. It's been pretty rough and I haven't slept good because I worry about him getting up and doing who knows what in the house. It does seem though that we can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Tonight he did okay. Good luck! Hope you will have quicker success! Who'd of thought it would have been this rough??? :)

  3. A mommy tip for you - buy some of those toddler door knob guards - the ones you can turn but they can't - and put it on the inside of her bedroom door. It will give you a lot of peace of mind that she won't wander out of her room in the middle of the night.
    good luck with the transition!
